78 Degrees Triple Smoke Whiskey Named Australia’s Best Grain Whiskey at 2023 World Whiskies Awards

Our Limited Release 78 Degrees Triple Smoke Whiskey has been awarded a Gold Medal and been crowned as the Category Winner for Best Australian Grain Whiskey at the prestigious 2023 World Whiskies Awards.

To celebrate, we’ve found and re-released a VERY limited amount of stock of this previously sold out whiskey for purchase online.

Triple Smoke Whiskey pays homage to three whiskey producing regions – Australia, USA and Scotland. We thought a fun way to do this would be to create a whiskey that includes a different smoked element from each regions in the mash.

We used local, single-paddock unmalted barley, smoked with Australian redgum for hazelnut praline and eucalypt flavours. We then teamed up with Corsair Distillery in Nashville USA, who smoked the same barley with American cherrywood. Finally, we blended it with Scottish peated malt. This triple smoking process gives the whiskey a complex and distinct flavour profile that sets it apart from other grain whiskeys.

On the palate, 78 Degrees Triple Smoke Whiskey is smooth and velvety, with flavours of dark chocolate, dried fruit, and a hint of spice. The finish is long and persistent, with a subtle smokiness that lingers on the tongue.

The World Whiskies Awards is one of the most renowned and respected whiskey competitions in the world, and winning a medal at this event is a significant achievement for any distillery. The judges include some of the most experienced and respected whiskey experts from around the globe. On the 78 Degrees Triple Smoke Whiskey, they commented:

“Bright grain and chocolate notes define the nose, along with gentle fruits and a surprise vegetal note. The palate brings a grain husk, chocolate powder element, along with hints of aniseed. Soft leather emerges on the finish.”
